How to Build a Website.

So you've decided to build a business as an internet marketer. Build a website is the first thing you need to do. Your website will serve as the hub of your business, and it's a critical element to achieving success online.

If you don't know how to build a website, the process can be rather daunting. However, once you know the steps to successfully create your own website, the process is not terribly difficult.

The first thing you will need for your website is a domain name. This is the address that visitors will type in to get to your website. Your domain name should give visitors an idea of what your website is about. For example, if you are launching a site about camping, your domain name might be something like www.campingtoday.com. You can use GoDaddy, Hostgator, or numerous other websites to find available domain names. When you find one that is right for your website, be sure to purchase it immediately, before it is reserved by someone else.

After you select your domain name, you will sign up with a hosting company. Your website files will be stored on the hosting company's servers, and will be accessed by visitors who click on your website. Do a quick Google search for “website hosting”, and you will find hundreds of companies that offer hosting plans at very affordable prices.

The next step is designing your website. If you are an experienced programmer, you can use a program like Dreamweaver to build a custom design. Since most internet marketers do not have the time or patience to build a fully customized site, though, there are a number of other options available. If you have a bit of programming talent, you can use a free software program, such as PageBreeze, to design your site. PageBreeze offers a WYSIWYG (What You see Is What You Get) platform that allows you to add page elements, such as backgrounds, borders, and images, with very little programming knowledge. PageBreeze also allows you to view and edit the HTML code for your website, so you can fine tune your site's design.

If using a WYSIWYG editor is still too complicated, there a number of websites where you can download templates for your website. The most basic templates are free, but you will typically have to pay for designs that you can customize. Still, for many internet marketers, purchasing a template is far better than spending weeks trying to learn how to design your own website, and much less expensive than hiring a programmer to do it for you.

Once your design is complete, you will want to begin writing content for your website. It is important to create content that is engaging and informative, and the more pages of content you have, the better. Visitors will find your content pages through search engines, so you need to make sure to use words and phrases in your content that are relevant to your topic. If you do not have time to write your own content, you can hire a freelancer to write articles you can use to build up your website, so visitors will start rolling in.
