Promote Affiliate Products
All you have to do is promote your affiliate company's products on a website or blog, via email, or in discussion forums. When a visitor clicks on one of your advertisements and purchases a product or service from the company, you earn a commission.
There are many types of programs you can choose from, and a nearly endless number of products you can promote. Before you begin your marketing venture, though, you should take some time to consider what type of affiliate programs you might want to use to build your business.
There are three different types of Internet Marketing Affiliate Programs that you might want to consider:
1. Cost per sale.
With this type of affiliate program, you get paid for each product or service that is purchased by a person you refer to the company's site through your affiliate link. Even if a visitor does not make a purchase on the first visit, but returns to the company's site later to buy a product or service, you will still typically be credited for the sale.
This model is preferred by many companies that sell through affiliates, because they only pay for performance. No matter how many visitors a company's affiliates refer, they do not have to pay commissions unless a sale is made. The vast majority of internet marketing affiliate programs that are offered use the cost per sale approach.
2. Recurring sale.
This is a variant of the cost per sale model. With this type of affiliate program, you are essentially selling subscriptions, rather than single sale products. For example, you might promote a membership to a software product that buyers pay for every month. As long as a buyer you refer continues paying for the product, you will continue to receive commissions.
This type of internet marketing affiliate program is not nearly as common as the cost per sale programs, but if you find one that offers a product in your niche, it can be a great source of long term recurring income.
3. Pay per click.
This type of affiliate program pays you for each visitor you refer to a company's website, rather than paying you for each sale that is made. There are advantages and disadvantages for both the company and its affiliates. The company pays for traffic that may or may not generate a sale, but when a sale is made, the company doesn't have to share part of the sale with an affiliate.
For the affiliate, the pay per click model results in more frequent commissions than the cost per sale model, but the commissions are typically much smaller.
